J10479 J 10479 is a Bedford SB/NJM, the successor to the OB design, and a number, invariably with Duple Dominant coachwork, survived on the island, their narrow bodies being ideally suited to the narrow lanes, as seen here.

Tantivy at the Harbour

Fleets of coaches await the arrival of passengers at St Helier harbour after the arrival of the Condor catamaran, which links Jersey with Guernsey, Poole and St Malo. Tantivy 53 is another Bedford/Duple, 23 a more modern Leyland Swift/Wadham Stringer and 111 a humble Ford Transit. Leyland Swifts have been acquired from a variety of mainland sources in recent years, having been found suitable for island operations.

J39815 A more stylish Wadham Stringer body, but this time on an Iveco chassis. The bus was delivered new to the island, the Iveco chassis being an answer to the quest for something suitable for the island's special needs. Tantivy 3 is seen at one of the St Helier depots.

J47453 Tantivy 5, parked near the same depot, is a solution the other way round. The Leyland Swift chassis has foreign coachwork, which is trying to look a little more coach like than the Wadham Stringer offering.
