Arriving at SHOWBUS international 2006 is the brand new Kowloon Motor Bus Scania K95UD with bodywork by Salvador Caetano's UK plant in Waterlooville, Hampshire.

The model made its debut at SHOWBUS and was still awaiting finishing touches, including fleetnames.

The front end had a hint of the Leviathan coach about its style. The front dome has since been repainted so that the champagne gold/black division is in a straight line level with the top of the windows.

The rear view of the bus is equally impressive and its pride of place at SHOWBUS allowed photographers easy access from various vantage points. We were extremely grateful to John Chan, Managing Director of KMB, for arranging the opportunity for so many enthusiasts to see this special vehicle at SHOWBUS. The bus was shipped to Hong Kong shortly after for trials and entered service as ASU1 (MT6551). It was joined by a second bus, ASU2 (NE6817), some months later, ASU2 not entering service until February 2008. Its Scania model designation was changed from K95UD to K310UD. A further twenty models followed, built in 2009, but not entering service until January 2010. The delivery was delayed as Caetano closed its UK plant in 2007, so the production batch was built in Portugal.
