First Routemaster on route 23
The trend for individual route marketing is clearly shown on this RML on the 23. The opportunity for more prominent First branding has also been taken. A few years later and despite widespread route branding outside London, all you get is a route number, final destination and a red bus.

On the same day that Trident/ALX400s were seen on the 23 (June 4 2004) this RM was seen, with Arriva's RML2588, on the 23 in Oxford Street.

Three First Routemasters were lined up at Showbus, as part of the 2007 First display. Nearest the camera is special events open topper RM120, now registered SSL809 rather than its original matching VLT plate. Next up is one of the London Heritage service fleet, sometimes unkindly referred to as "Dartlines" with their re-engined power units having more in common with the Dennis Dart than the original AEC variant. RM1562 still has its original 562CLT registration. The third vehicle is an RML transferred from First's London fleet to East Anglia. Its garish colours commemorate the "Flying Banana" operations taken over by Eastern Counties in Great Yarmouth.
