Portsmouth City Transport Leyland Titan GTP995
Leyland Titan 78 (GTP995) was an all Leyland vehicle. It is seen here in the picture taken by the Middlesex Advertiser, which subsequently adorned the front cover of 'BUSES' magazine, on the occasion of the first bus rally which gave birth to Showbus. The January 1973 rally was organised by Martin Isles at Brunel University as part of a student festival for the local community. Former Portsmouth 78 led the parade around the university perimeter road, with new Alder Valley VR 928 and Valliant Silverline's Paul McCartney's Wings liveried ex Eastern National KSW open topper clearly visible behind. Glimpses include the preserved Burton's all Guy singledecker and one of South Midland's Bristol LH/Duple Commander tour coaches.
