The GO2 branding covers a number of primary routes in primary colours. Nottingham is a colourful city as the black liveried Citaro of Trent-Barton behind serves to remind. In March 2010 not only did Nottingham have its GO2 coloured lines and its Nottingham Network coloured lines, there were the Park & Rides, Trent-Barton and Your Bus all using route coloured branding, notwithstanding visiting Arriva, Stagecoach, Veolia and other operators. Yet 745 (YN04UJH) has a strong blue identity of its own.

Brown might not be an obvious choice of colour for route branding, but with so many colours around, Scania N94UD 721 (YN53CFJ) manages to carry it off. Though perhaps Chocolate Line might appeal more than Brown.

More emphatically, N94UD 682 (YN05WFP) promotes Red Line. Would Scarlet have had more local appeal?

The problem with route branded buses is ensuring the correct colour bus is on the correct route. Whilst Nottingham and Reading manage this very well with buses like 688 (YN05WFT) being available in non branded livery to fill in where necessary, the likes of Arriva in High Wycombe, with far fewer branded routes and many more standard liveried buses failed dismally baxk in the day. Nottingham and Reading certainly have systems in place to protect their carefully marketed route branding.
