Bristol Omnibus Bristol Lodekka FLF6B ECW 7000
Just another Bristol Lodekka? Seen at Lawrence Hill depot is LC8540 (995EHW), the prototype FLF6B Lodekka. When new in 1959 it was fitted with sliding doors like Thames Valley's first FLF coaches used on the Reading - London express routes. It was demonstrated to Alexander (Fife) and Crosville but returned to ECW for rebuild in 1960 emerging as 7000 and receiving the to-be-standard jack-knife doors. The bus retired in 1977 and two years later it was exported to Seattle, USA ending up operating with a new offside door fitted for the Sugar Cane Train on the Hawaiian island of Maui by later 1981. It was still owned in 2003, but later had a change of ownership and became a non-runner. It is likely still on the island!

Bristol Omnibus Bristol Lodekka FLF6B ECW 7249, Hants & Dorset FS6G 646 & Ford R1014 ECW 3593
Bristol Omnibus met Hants & Dorset in Salisbury. Lodekka FLF6B 7249 (FHU507D) is on the trunk route from Bath, behind is former Wilts & Dorset FS6G 109 (684AAM). Salisbury was proper Wilts & Dorset territory, but National Bus merged the companies under the Hants & Dorset banner. The FS6G as Wilts & Dorset 646 received a mainly cream livery for the Salisbury to Bournemouth service and has been modelled by Corgi. The third vehicle is another NBC oddity, looking like an ECW bodied Bristol LH the chassis of 3593 (RRU593N) is a Ford R1014.

Bristol Omnibus Bristol VRTSL6G ECW C5003
Back in Lawrence Hill is early VRTSL6G with the unusual (for NBC fleets) extra centre door in its ECW body. Southdown received some for former Brighton, Hove & District routes in Brighton. This VR, C5003 (EHU362K), ended its days as a driver trainer in 1985. .
