Bristol Omnibus Leyland National C1444
The domination of the fleet by Bristol/ECW products finished under NBC ownership with the inevitable intake of the super standardised mass produced Leyland National. Newly delivered to Lawrence Hill in late 1974 is C1444 (UAE997N). The blind is still set to match the last three digits of the "chassis" number and it is bereft of any fleet insignia and may or may not have gained a white band before entering service. Again Bristol had its version of NBC livery initially wth a thin white band and scroll fleetnames.

Interestingly London Country received a batch of fifteen ECW highbridge bodied Bristol VRTSL3 doubledeckers alongside its current Leyland Atlantean AN68 deliveries: they were desperate for buses at the time to replace the ageing inherited fleet. The batch managed three and a half years in service before being sent west to Bristol. Used to highbridge Bristol KSW types there were plenty of routes they could be used on. This is 6510 (PPH471R), former London Country BT11. The batch all passed to Badgerline gaining their jolly yellow and green livery and 6510 was one of two that ended up Abus and was subsequently preserved.

Also seen leaving Marlborough Street Bus Station that evening was 6506 (PPH467R), former BT7 which, after Badgerline, spent nearly four years with Western National as their 936, then over five with East Yorkshire as their 767 and around ten more with Stephenson of Easingwold before going for scrap around 2003.

Seen before coming to Bristol is BT15 (PPH475R) believed to be at the Green Line fiftieth anniversary rally in Crawley It went on to become Bristol 6514. It went through a string of brief owners after Badgerline before settling with being converted to a mobile disco in Greater Manchester, "The Disco Express" from 1995 to 2012. After that it is believed to have been scrapped.
