New low floor Dart purchases by Thamesdown initially standardised on the long SPD 45 seat version. This Thamesdown SPD model, 182 (S182BMR), on show at SHOWBUS in 1998 was amongst the first built. It is photographed alongside the Dennis SPD demonstator, R739TMO, which was on loan to Harris Bus at Grays at the time.

Another secondhand bus, 143 (R317NGM), is a Dennis Dart SLF acquired via Ensignbus from Kent operator The King's Ferry. The bus however had been intended for London tendered operations when new and had been ordered by Q-Drive, the parent company of Limebourne. At the time of delivery, Limebourne. went out of business and their operatiosn passed to Connex, though the batch of new Plaxton Pointer bodied SLF Darts did not.

SPD 197 (Y197VMR) is aptly named "Magnificent", which is how it looked at SHOWBUS international 2001 |
Summer 2003 saw this SPD, 209 (WX03YFD), on display at what may well have been the last Southsea Spectacular.
