Following two prototypes, 1501 and 1502, which entered service at the end of 1927, the undertaking ordered 500 tramcars to this design which was based on streetcars in Cleveland, Ohio, built by Peter Witt. Seen in the city in October 2009 is car 1771, one of fifty built by Italian aircraft manufacturer Reggiane.

Six years later car 1552 was built by Carminati & Toselli from the middle of a batch of 110. The tram is on the City Tour and is seen waiting outside Garibaldi Station on the edge of the city centre.

Back to 2009 and car 1782 is outside the iconic La Scala opera house. It is one of 110 units built by Officine Meccaniche or OM as it is also known.
