Maidenhead depot, now a Waitrose supermarket, used to sport a good turnout of Bristol VRs of the Mark I variety, including several ex Western SMT examples, with their distinctive destination displays. Nearest the camera are native examples: 910 (VMO244H) and 908 (UBL248G) which were briefly 510 and 508, respectively, in the Thames Valley fleet.

At Brachnell, VR 911 (VMO229H) is seen with Bristol MW6G 256, the last of only 6 MW6G bus style Bristols delivered new to Thames Valley as 857 (VJB948).

This VR is seen floodlit on the forecourt of Newbury Bus Station.

In contrast this Mark I VR in Wycombe bus Station looks more like it is floodlit from the inside.

This Mark I VR seen in the Thorn Walk yard at Reading is still in Tilling red with cream trim. Note the one of the trio of early RELLs with an incongruous T-style rear destination blind to match the one towering at the front.
