Scurrying across the roundabout by the main pier in Brighton is an Optare Sigma bodied Dennis Lance in one of the first dedicated service liveries of purple & cream back in 1996.
Brighton boasted some of the first low floor double deckers outside London. The vehicles sported bodies from the builder the company has favoured of late, East Lancs, with their Lolyne design, based, appropriately on a Dennis chassis - the Trident. Here 812 (T812RFG) is seen leaving the town centre on route 1 in the purple colour scheme.
When new Max Miller, 819 (T819RFG), had the ability to remove its top (along with fellow 820). The Epsom Derby was the first occasion they went topless, but the buses proved more modest in daily service.
Sister vehicle to Max Miller, Dame Flora Robson, 820 (T820RFG), was one of two Lolynes from the B&H fleet at Millennium Showbus. Dame Flora can also go topless! Can you see the join?

In standard fleet livery in 2002 is Optare Sigma bodied Dennis Lance 404 (N404MPN) on the 27 to Saltdean. |
