Solent Blue Line eschewed the more common Mercedes minibuses in favour of Ivecos. Locally a series of coachbuilders had come and gone and come again under the trade names of Robin Hood and Phoenix, amongst others. Financial failure had been rife, and it may be that Blue Line had profited from it by acquiring some bargain vehicles - even if, on occasion, as here with 243 (M243KPO) - the body styles are a little out of the ordinary. This body is by European Coach Conversions.

A more conventional Iveco 59.12, with unusual Mellor coachwork, 252 (M252BPO), is seen here on service into Eastleigh.

An unusual vehicle is this Alexander Strider bodied low floor Volvo B10B saloon being checked over in Eastleigh Bus Station.

Solent Blue Line established its Southampton operations with a large fleet of Bristol VR buses. Seen in its final years, 67 (XJJ668V), a former East Kent bus, is seen basking in Southsea sunshine in the summer of 2003. |
One of a batch of East Lancs Lolyne Dennis Tridents to enter service on the trunk route from Southampton to Winchester, 743 (T743JPO) pounds the road once the preserve of Hants & Dorset Bristols. The vehicles proved popular and increased ridership heralding the entry of more of the type in the fleet. Unfortunately 743 looks the worse for January weather and road conditions here in Eastleigh.
