Typical of the JTA fleet in early August 2010 were these midi-sized Gillig Phantoms. This is 953. For a relatively small town (population 65000) Jackson, named after a former General and President, enjoyed a comprehensive bus network, supplemented by paratransit.

The fleet operated out of a period depot at the east end of East Deaderick Street. The depot was finished reflecting the old livery of silver and blue. However the place has since been bulldozed and replaced by a brand new spacious facility at 38 Eutah Street.

Two Gillig Phantoms in the old colours were laid up at the depot, 939 foremost.

Alongside the silver Gilligs were a pair of Fird E450 paratransit buses in the old colours too. The paratransit services were marketed under the brand name "The Lift".

JTA
in use on "The Lift" was Ford E450 944 in the town's smart and busy Bus Station.
