A picture believed sent in by the owner of the RELH6G, 1459 (OTA631G), seen with a Royal Blue OB, later owned by Premier of Watford. The OB, 1428 (LTA904), was exhibited at the first in the series of bus rallies which became SHOWBUS, at Brunel University in 1973. At that time the coach was just acquired for preservation and in a non descript grey paint scheme. |

The coach was parked up with another normal control coach, Beestons Plaxton bodied Austin CXB, BCF802, and former Burton Corporation all-Guy Arab III singledecker 63 (FA9291) which had braved snow in Staffordshire to get to Uxbridge.

Some old slides of the Brunel parade appeared recently and Guy 63 can be seen following the former Eastern National KSW in its Wings livery followed by a South Midland Duple bodied Bristol LH6L, the OB, a modern Valliant-Silverline coach and then the Austin.

Bedford OB caoches are always a delight at any rally and draw the crowds, which they certainly did at SHOWBUS in 2008. Tim Wootton's Royal Blue 1411 (LTA750) had been to SHOWBUS before, but alongside was Stuart Jones' pride and joy, recently acquired MYB33 which used to be in the Safeway fleet many years ago. Stuart was editor of Bus and Coach Buyer, who supplied the excellent annual SHOWBUS programme which included an account of his exploits in getting the OB to SHOWBUS in the post rally edition which reviewed the Duxford gathering. |
