Red Rover were very quick off the mark when emergency rail replacement services were needed. They could usually muster several doubledeckers and call in part time staff at short notice, though Traffic Manager Chris Day would be behind the wheel of one of the buses, some of the maintenance staff would down tools too. Buses, like 140, accompanied by ex Nottingham AEC Renown 123 (DAU369C), were eqipped with "British Railways" on the blinds and/or the double arrow motif. Note also the hand painted Keith Coaches advert for continental coach holidays.

Renown 127 (DAU358C) is parked in the yard after its morning run on Linkline route 9 through Walton Court. The 0830h departure from Stoke Mandeville Hospital via Walton Court became heavily loaded, so the Renown used on the busy school run in from Buckingham went on to the Hospital and Mrs Foot, the conductress, then helped the 9 keep on time with its heavy load. Leaving the yard is 140. The other DMS is believed to be 139.

Taking part in a London Bus Rally in the yard behind St Pancras Station is 140. It appears to be between a roof box RT and what could well be RMF1254 (254CLT). Just visible is an open top ECW bodied former Eastern National Bristol KSW WNO481 in Tricentrol livery. This was the bus that appeared at our first rally at Brunel University in January 1973 in Wings livery for Sir Paul McCartney's band's 1972 European tour.
