In the eighties, as something of a special relationship developed with London Buses, not only was there the joint doubledeck coach service between Eastbourne and London but Eastbourne acquired some LT Leyland Nationals, including former LS68 (OJD868R) seen outside Eastbourne Station as Eastbourne 168. |

Former Western National Leyland National 2822 (MOD822P) is seen as part of the Top Line fleet, another special relationship between Southdown and Eastbourne Buses in Hastings, though the bus is seen here in Eastbourne on route to Hastings. The company competed with former NBC, subsidiary Hastings & District, formed as an offshoot of Maidstone & District. In the end the Top Line operations were merged with Hastings & District once both companies were owned by Stagecoach. |

This short Leyland National arriving at SHOWBUS international 2014 is somewhat an imposter in Eastern Counties colours. The bus has never served with the company, it was new to London Buses in 1979 as LS274 (YYE274T), being sold after service in 1987 to Eastbourne until it was sold for scrap in 1990. Luckily the bus was rescued by Chase Bus & Coach who converted it to single door and used it through till 2007. It then passed to New Farm Produce who painted it military green and used it for staff transport until 2013 when it was purchased by The Big Lemon finally retiring into preservation the following year and was painted into this fictitious Eastern Counties livery in time for SHOWBUS. It is believed the owners want to ultimately restore it to Chase livery. Picture ref 14-0096 |
