Shamrock and Rambler was a typical coach company of long standing in the Bournemouth area, acquiring its local rival Charlies Cars. It was acquired by Hants & Dorset losing its identity in the subsequent National Bus creation, its orange livery swept away by NATIONAL white and its activities became part of the National Travel South West coaching arm. As deregulation approached its identity was revived more strongly in the run up to privatisation, spinning off a new company. Pilgrim Coaches. With deregulation it was recreated as a bus unit competing with Badger Vectis - an amalgam of Badgerline and Southern Vectis - in the Bournemouth area.

If it is out of the ordinary, it is bound to turn up at SHOWBUS sooner or later, and in the early days at Woburn Abbey, this oversized charabanc from Shamrock & Rambler, did just that. Given a suitable mock vintage registration - TR6147 - the vehicle is actually based on a Bristol LH. It also saw service in this charabanc guise with Midland Red as seen below. | |

This beautifully restored Bedford OB/Duple turned up at SHOWBUS in 2001 to join a line up of these charming litle coaches. It had been reregistered WSL115 and was 51 years old in 2001. | |

Former Shamrock & Rambler 3115 (B115ORU) became ML15 in the Original London Sightseeing Tour fleet. Shamrock & Rambler operated these MCW Metroliners (with roofs!) on the National Express service from Bournemouth to London. In its open top guise it is seen in Piccadilly Circus.

This attractive and popular West Country coach carries the Bournemouth Belle logo on its rear. Registration number KEL95 is on route to Skegness, in its preserved condition. |
