New to Excelsior in 1981, Plaxton Supreme IV bodied Ford R1114 PJT513W passed to West Wales Motors of Tycroes. It is seen in Cardiff in the early eighties, probably with another of the batch and one of Cardiff Northern Counties bodied Volvo Ailsas.

Excelsior was one of the founding members of British Coachways, a consortium of operators spearheaded by Mike Kay of Grey-Green. Excelsior's Bournemouth - London service became part of the fledgling network pitching itself against the mighty National Express. Plaxton Supreme bodied Ford R1114 MPR503W was one of several Excelsior coaches painted in the British Airways inspired livery.
