Dual purpose National ND412 (KDW358P) was treated to a makeover and is seen in March 2004 in Cardiff Bus Station on the service linking the city with its airport. The airport service has had a checkered history being operated by a variety of companies over the years and is now part of the Traws Cambria network. The bus, somewhat superfluously, sports MAP Barrivale fleetnames.

National Welsh bought more short Nationals than most, following its ancestry of Leyland Tiger Cubs and Bristol RESL short buses. This short National, NS7432 (SJG337N), sen in Cardiff Bus station with Barrivale MAP fleetnames was actually transferred from East Kent.

Standard National N1978 (WUH161T) looks like it might be on rail replacement work here with other fleet members. The bus saw later service with MTL being used in its short lived operation in Manchester.

The National 2 was seen again at the 2015 Bristol Rally in Brislington.
