Former Red & White Bristol ECW Lodekka FS6G L1861 (803BWO), new to them as L.161, looks out of place next t te tring of former Rhondda highbridge Northern Counties bodied AEC Regent V buses in Porth depot. The middle bus of the quintet without a NBC badge on the radiator and a different blind style was probably new to Western Welsh.

In the south valleys area, Rhymney Valley District Council operations collapsed under competitive pressures. National Welsh mopped up the operations before they collapsed themselves! This former East Lancs bodied Leyland Tiger, B26ADW, is seen in Caerphilly Buslink livery in that town. The operation is thought to have been part of a joint venture with part of Julian Peddle's empire at the time, but the U696 fleet number suggests the bus was still owned by National Welsh. |
