After a spirited ride out to Flemington, the Lodekka headed back to the city for another run. It has been registered 1284AC in Victoria and though it is in Dee Decker's red and cream livery it does mimic a standard London bus, down to the artificial AEC-style split of its radiator. It has been like that since it arrived in Melbourne in 1972 with London Transport Bus Tours with fleet number RM4! Many of Dee Deckers fleet are named and DLB879 is simply known has been christened "Lodekka".

Back at Fed Square, DFG879 was being assisited by another of Dee Decker's doubledeckers, former Plymouth City Transport Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlantean of 1969, 234 (JJY634G), now registered 2180AC and known as "Espy". The free shuttle service was being sponsored by Shoreditch Menswear, whose adverts adorn the buses, with the Melbourne Cup being something of a fashion parade - as seen from the prospective passengers attire - the sponsorship was quite appropriate. |
