Sometimes when you buy an old bus to preserve you get more than you bargained for. This was certainly the case for Warren Sketcher who contacted us this week seeking help with this recently acquired PMCSA Commuter bodied MAN SL200 new in 1983 to the State Transport Authority as 1919 (STA919), in the distinctive silver livery. It transferred to TransAdelaide with rego TA1919 and later went to Serco as 141 (WJP498). Staying as 141 it moved to Torrens Transit, ending its Adelaide Metro with Southlink as their 2467 in 2020. A Glenelg based private owner acquired it, possibly as a shed or motorhome conversion. Warren has bravely taken on its restoration. Initial internal inspection revealed a few shed snake skins revealing the current inhabitant as a 3 metre plus python living in a locker above the driver's cab! It is doing a very good job of curling up its body and hiding it between the body panels. Warren and a mate could not pull him out of "his" cab and had to wait till he was on the move to catch him and then relocate him. Warren is missing some parts for the MAN. If you can help at all drop him an email at woza3@yahoo.com
