Kernow First Beeline Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMC 33311
Symptomatic of a bit of a ding-dong between First and Go-Ahead is this Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMC recently transferred from Cornwall to Slough! Go-Ahead, following their acquisition of Plymouth Citybus have been slowly chipping away at what was the Western National Cornish operation established by Great Western Railways and through the nationalised Tilling era. After more contract losses First had enough and closed down the whole Cornish operation, dispersing the fleet aross the nation. They have used the displaced Enviro400MMC buses, mostly still in Kernow green livery - though some are in red and others in the new national First colours - to launch the M40 competitive services against Go-Ahead's Carousel established routes between Uxbridge and High Wycombe. First Beeline's X74 already operated from Wycombe to Loudwater, where it hopped on the M40 and on to Slough. The M40 does the same, but stays on the motorway to Denham, then into Uxbridge. The X74 has been extended from Slough, also to Uxbridge to compete with a new Carousel 458 between Slough and Uxbridge competing with First Beeline's 3. The 458 number comes from a former London Transport route between the two towns. Whereas First are making do with buses without a hint of First branding, the 458 has route branded Citaro O295 buses.
