Reading Buses ADL Enviro400MMC 757 Green Line Royal Express
Seen in Slough yesterday on the day of the Royal Wedding is Reading Buses Alexander Dennis Enviro400MMC 757 (YX64VRT). The bus has been dubbed "The Royal Express" and depicts the Royal Couple on the sides and rear with approrpiate wording for the occasion. Reading Buses took over the Bracknell-London Green Line 702 from First Berkshire and has recently dovetailed it with route 703 from Bracknell to Heathrow Terminal 5, cutting the 702 short of Bracknell at Legoland, which is where 757 has just come from. Reading Buses were doing a superb job at operating their services on the day of the wedding, with severe disruption around Windsor. The bus was seen heading to Legoland around 15 minutes late approaching Windsor but was just about on time at Slough London bound. Duplicate buses were seen earlier starting in Windsor, one operating via Slough and the other heading hot foot for the city. Following the Enviro400 is First Southampton 32763 (WJ55CSF), an East Lancs Lolyne bodied Dennis Trident. Several vehicles travelled north from the port to work a shuttle service between Slough and Windsor as there were too many passengers for the train to cope with. Reading Buses provided a number of vehicles to assist on the shuttle, mostly new Purple route gas powered Scania deckers with Enviro400City bodies. Their dual door arrangement meant a quick turn around and a dash back for the next standing load.
