Following on from Uber the development of ride share commute minibuses is making an impact in San Francisco. The dominant operator is Chariot and it is impossible to miss their fleet of a couple of hundred Ford Transit buses all over the city at rush hours. This is number 37 seen on California approaching Van Ness last week. Transits of several bland colours are used but with very similar Chariot wraps that obscure views or passengers due to the contravision vinyls. Slogans include "Mass Transit Reivented" and #commutesolved. Checking the hashtag it maybe that the commute has not been solved, but it is difficult to get the public to make positive comments, whereas negative ones flow easily! First week's travel is free and fares are around $3 per trip which compares with a subsidised $1 on MUNI.
